    Hey Melancholians,

    Guess what?

I've received a call from Noise/Esplanade programme I/C that I've been selected to perform on March 15-17th @ Esplanade: Concourse. =D

A meeting will be held @ Esplanade on thursday so I'll be heading down for more information regarding the event. I'll let you guys know ASAP.

    Stay tuned till then.

    Project Melancholia

    Hey,

Thanks for coming down to support @ the show-case this evening, really appreciate it!

First, I wanna apologize for the shift of slots. I was pushed forward 30minutes earlier as the 530pm show-case artiste wasn't able to make it at the last minute. It wasn't appropriate for everyone to wait 30minutes for 6pm, so they decided to push me up. I hope you were able to catch a song or two and once again, really really sorry. =(

And for some reasons, I had to leave the place early and was unable to speak with you guys. And also partly that I don't wanna be a distraction to the next show-case artiste.

I'll continue to update you guys on the upcoming gigs, and thanks for sticking with Project Melancholia.

    Project Melancholia

    Hi Melancholians,

    Thanks for sticking around.

Ever since 2010 started, good things have been coming around and I've been feeling awesome than ever.
I get to be away from the rut and meet up with old friends, get to know a new friend and just last friday I got a call from Noise Singapore that I've been selected as one of their artistes to feature an original song in their 2010 compilation album, which means I get to work with our famous music producer Leonard Soosay for the very first time. Awesome! And I also get to perform next Friday at Esplanade Library from 6:40-7:00pm to showcase my originals~

More, just this morning, I received a FB msg from a stranger saying that he's a friend of my another friend, who happened to show him my works. He wants to make a music video of one my songs, and u guessed it, I was more than happy to agree! Incredible, truly incredible few weeks.

Here's the video that guy made for NTU Crusade:

Stay cool, I'll update soon enough.

    Hey Melancholians,

As you know, I got to know of this singer songwriter over ExpressInMusic.com a week+ back. This is the first song of hers that first captured me.
Here's the full-arrangement of her original "Little Butterfly" by Arista Jemie Soh:

To those who are interested to know more about this song, the explanation is at the bottom after the lyrics.
Hope you all like this! (re recorded version)

    "Little Butterfly"
Sequencing, Mixing,... everything... Music and Lyrics by Arista Jemie Soh
    Written 16th July 2009

    Verse1:
Every little child would start off with a dream
But achieving it is harder than it seems
Taking an extra mile we would stumble along the way
'But do not be discouraged' we hear our mothers say...

    Chorus:
    Little Butterfly
    breaking from your cocoon
You might not know you'll be in the skies soon
Just a while longer, if you're patient and wait
Your wings will soon be dry
Open your wings and start to fly
    My little butterfly

    Verse2:
Now I'm all grown up but my dreams all still remain
Oh should I give up or would all this be in vain?
'But do not be discouraged' we'd ike to hear them say

    PreChorus:
    How would we know
we would have a bright future ahead if we follow our dreams
And will we fail? Will we succeed?
    Well time will tell somehow

    Chorus:
    Little Butterfly
    breaking from your cocoon
You might not know you'll be in the skies soon
Just a while longer, if you're patient and wait
Your wings will soon be dry
Open your wings and start to fly
    My little butterfly

    Refrain:
    Little butterfly
    Little butterfly
Spread your wings and sour up high
    Little Butterfly

    WHY Butterfly?
There are many links with butterflies in mythology from all over the world, for the Celts it represents transformation, inspiration and rebirth. In China it symbolises joy and transformation, in ancient mythology, wisdom and knowledge.

    Hey P:Melancholians,

I was surfing www.expressinmusic.com (the company which the music executive, AJ, is from) and as I was visiting the Song request Samples, I found an artist with the name Jemie Soh. And yes, I was curious because we share similiar name, and you've guessed it, i went to check this person out.

To save the story for another post, we've been contacting over youtube messaging for a few times, and I would like to introduce this artist to you guys. Here's an original by her:

"Basically it's just a song saying it's ok to be who you are. You are perfectly yourself and it's fine that way. It was the time where I was kind of discovering my identity. New school, new friends, if you don't hang out at a certain place, don't be a certain way, you lose those friends. After a long period of time I was having a hard time keeping up. So it was the time where I've decided that it's actually ok to just stop trying so hard and just be myself. Hope you all enjoy this!" - Arista

    "Perfectly Me"
Sequencing, Mixing, Music and Lyrics by Arista Jemie Soh
    Recorded at Singapore Polytechnic
    Written 21st Oct 2007
    Piano: Edwin Toh / niwdehot
    Drums & Bass: Bani Hidir

    Verse1:
    Look at me
Tell me what do you see
    All the flaws,
All the imperfection's all you see
Used to care about the things people say
Never certain of myself in anyway

    PreChorus:
    I discovered that it's ok
You don't have to do what they say
Cause it is enough to be just who you are

    Chorus:
Just say it loud 'I'm perfectly me'
Don't hide away from the world you see
Don't have to strive and try to be somebody else
So smile, don't cry, you're somebody now
    I'm perfectly me
    Perfectly me

    Verse2:
    Perfection
    Is something hard to achieve
    I'm certain
    Some people see the negative
All it takes is just to see that single ray
See the up-side, wash the negative away

    *PreChorus

    *Chorus

    Bridge:
    Insecurities,
Won't let this happen to me
I am no one else but myself
    I am me

    *Chorus

    Ending Chorus:
Have to say 'I'm perfectly me'
It's just enough to be you really
Don't have to strive and try to be somebody else
    I'll smile, won't cry, I'm somebody now
    I'm perfectly me... ...

I was watching Scrubs season 8 ep4, the song "Sunny Days" by Joshua Radin was played in the background of a scene. As the gentle melody flows , I can't help but to have this nostalgic feeling. Although it's pretty U.S. culture, I felt it had been part of my life and despite the fact that I didn't really like it when I was a kid, I still feel a connection to it.

There's a tinge of loss after hearing this song, and i know it's crazy to even mention, but is my childhood saying goodbye right now through this song? Perhaps I never said goodbye to my childhood in a amicable manner but forcing my way out to adulthood, and that it's time to come to terms with it? Still, I know, there's a kid in me that never stops laughing and playing with pure innocence regardless of all the crap we have to put up with in the "real world".

Sesame street is a show which most of us have watched when we were still children, and perhaps for some, still watching... Hope you like this clip: "Sunny Days" covered by Joshua Radin.

    Sunny Day
    Sweepin' the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street

    Come and play
    Everything's A-OK
    Friendly neighbors there
    That's where we meet

Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street

    It's a magic carpet ride
    Every door will open wide
    To Happy people like you--
    Happy people like
    What a beautiful

    Sunny Day
    Sweepin' the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame street...
How to get to Sesame Street
    How to get to...

    Jeremy's diary:
Srsly, what keeps us alive? Is it the air we breathe or the food we eat? I don't think so, coz I see half-deads taking a ride on the train every time I take it in the morning. There must be something else that is needed to make us alive, make us truly living.

    What do you think?
